Signs and symbols play a huge role in my readings because they can provide such astounding evidence of our loved ones all around us. Often as the reader, I may pass on the information of these signs and symbols, but I may not know the meaning or significance to the sitter. However, for them it can be the most meaningful thing they hear in the reading, because spirit knows what will resonate with them.
Signs and symbols from the spirit world are often subtle, personal, and can vary greatly from person to person, but they often carry deep meaning for the recipient. These signs are ways of communication that loved ones who have passed, spirit guides and angels, use to connect with us.
Here are some common signs and symbols:
1. Feathers
- White feathers in particular are often seen as messages from angels or deceased loved ones. Feathers are a message from a loved one in spirit indicating that they love you and they support you. They can signify protection and love.
2. Butterflies and Birds
- Butterflies, especially those that appear unexpectedly or have unique patterns, are thought to symbolize transformation and messages from loved ones.
- Birds, like cardinals, are also often seen as messengers from the spirit realm, representing the presence of a deceased loved one. Be mindful of birds and butterflies in your presence.
3. Coins
- Finding coins, especially in unusual places, is sometimes interpreted as a sign of reassurance and support from the spirit world. Most often 10 cents is the coin of choice when the spirit world wants you to pay attention. Often a sign of Love and I Miss You.
4. Synchronicities
- When events seem to line up in meaningful ways (e.g., seeing the same number repeatedly, encountering the same person or phrase multiple times), it can be seen as a sign that spirits are trying to send a message or guide you. Watch for numbers like 111, 222, 333, 1234. These are numbers of encouragement.
5. Dreams
- Dreams where deceased loved ones appear are often regarded as direct communication from the other side. These dreams feel more vivid and real compared to normal dreams, and they often convey messages of love, guidance, or peace. I expand further on this in my post on dreams of deceased loved ones.
6. Electrical Disturbances
- Flickering lights, appliances turning on and off by themselves, or electronics acting oddly can be interpreted as spirits trying to get your attention. Watch the electrical in your home or office and watch if it flickers. Personally I have not had this but others have had a lot of activities with lights. Always have an open heart when lights flicker.
7. Unexplained Scents
- Smelling familiar fragrances, such as perfume, flowers, or even tobacco smoke, that remind you of someone who has passed away can be a sign that their presence is near. A smell of cologne, grandmas attic, or possibly a smell of cigarettes could remind you of your loved one, but also letting you know your family is close by.
8. Cloud Shapes
- Some people believe that spirits communicate through cloud formations, especially when they take on meaningful shapes like hearts, angels, or objects related to a deceased loved one. If you notice yourself looking up just at the right time to see a heart shaped cloud, you were guided by loved ones to see the blessing of a heart. Know that your family is close by.
9. Objects Moving or Appearing
- Objects like pictures, books, or items associated with a loved one may appear in unexpected places, or seem to move without explanation, suggesting a spirit is nearby and sometimes they want to play with you.
10. Tingling or Warmth Sensations
- A feeling of warmth, tingling, or a soft breeze on the skin, especially during a quiet or reflective moment, can be interpreted as a spiritual presence or energy.
11. Animals
- Animals behaving unusually or crossing your path, particularly in a significant way (e.g., a bird landing near you or a dog staring into the distance), can be seen as a message from a spiritual source and a loved one in spirit.
The key to interpreting these signs is often in personal significance. What resonates with one person may be different from what resonates with another, but the feeling of comfort, reassurance, connection, or a sense of just ‘knowing’ is usually a hallmark of spiritual communication.
