To live with the gift of mediumship is to live with heightened sensitivity. It is not simply about communicating with Spirit during a reading or demonstration. It is about walking through the world with a finely tuned awareness—emotionally, intuitively, and energetically.
Many people assume mediumship “turns on” only during a session. But I find that my sensitivity is woven into daily life. I may feel the emotional atmosphere of a room the moment I enter it. Or I may sense when someone is struggling, even before they speak. I find it second nature to notice subtle shifts in tone, posture, or vibration that others may overlook.
However, without awareness and management, this can become overwhelming. Sensitive mediums can feel drained after conversations, carry emotions that are not their own, or experience sudden mood shifts that seem to come from nowhere. The nervous system of a medium is often highly responsive. When we are trained to blend with Spirit, we can also unconsciously blend with the living.
How to manage the gift of being sensitive
Learning to manage this gift is essential, and it is something I have had to consciously practice in my own life.
I have learned that I need quietness around my home. I do not tolerate a lot of loud noise or constant hustle and bustle. My environment matters deeply. When there is too much external stimulation, I feel it immediately in my body and mind. Creating a peaceful home is not a luxury for me. It is a necessity for my well being and for maintaining clarity in my connection with Spirit.
I have also discovered that early nights are incredibly important. Rest strengthens not only my own sanity, but also my spiritual connection. When I am overtired, my sensitivity becomes reactive rather than refined. When I am rested, the connection feels pure, steady, and natural. Protecting my sleep is part of protecting my gift.
Family time is equally important. Being present with my family anchors me into real, tangible life. It reminds me that while I work with Spirit, I live here in relationship, laughter, shared meals, and quiet evenings. That balance keeps me healthy and grounded.
One of the most important practices is intentional opening and closing. Just because you can sense does not mean you must always remain open. Before a reading, I consciously open myself to Spirit. When the work is complete, I gently close and return fully to my own energy. This simple act creates healthy spiritual boundaries that are much needed in my life as a psychic and medium.

Grounding the body is equally important. Mediumship is spiritual, but it moves through the physical system. Eating well, hydrating, walking outdoors, breathing deeply, and resting the nervous system are necessary for sensitive souls. A strong body supports a balanced spiritual life, and this is something I strive for in my daily practice.
The gift of mediumship is sacred. It allows for deep compassion, accurate connection, and soul level understanding. But the true mastery of this gift is not only in communicating with Spirit—it is in living well with it.
