Getting A Reading

Recently, I have seen a number of people post pictures of their loved ones who are in spirit. These individuals ask for messages from an intuitive medium in hopes of hearing and receiving some healing messages from their loved one in spirit. In various social media forms, people sometimes present a picture of their loved one in spirit that they hope a medium will read and post information about the deceased loved one online. The individual who posts will often comment on the remarks the medium is making, and may indicate in the comments of the photo that they understand or don’t understand the information coming through. However, people who post their loved one’s picture likely do not realize that any information coming through is not from the spirit world, it’s actually coming from the medium’s own psychic intuition. The spirit world is never wrong and it does not provide inaccurate information. So if the picture reading was in fact a connection to the spirit world, the information from those in spirit would be factual, because the sitter would know the deceased’s life and the evidence of that would be accurate.   So,  is reading a picture of someone who has passed a true form of mediumship?   No, it is not a form of mediumship! Mediumship is where a person who has sensitivity to the spirit world utilizes their soul to blend and connect with the soul of someone who has passed, often in-person or online with the sitter. I often say it’s a soul to soul connection. It is this soul to soul communication that provides the evidence and gives a message to the person here on earth. The soul of the person in spirit must be present in order to give the information to the medium. And a photo of the deceased is only a photo; it is not a soul. If an intuitive medium or a person with intuitive abilities looks at the picture, they are likely accessing their psychic abilities to read it, and are not truly accessing not the soul of the person in spirit. They may pick up certain things psychically from the photo, but the soul of the person in spirit is not there for them to connect to because the sitter – the person posting the picture – is not in the realtime presence of the medium on either a live video call or in-person reading, and it is the sitter who brings the connection for the medium. You see, we bring our loved ones with us to a reading, and they stay with us during the reading and leave with us when it ends. And so, it is not possible for mediumship to work in the case of a medium simply looking at a picture from social media to provide an evidential reading. The medium may be accessing their intuition and providing information from their intuitive self, but the information coming through is not from the spirit world. It is important to know that a picture reading is only a psychic reading and not mediumship. If you have considered posting pictures, just know that any information that comes through flows from the intuitive side and not from the spirit world.  

In the realm of spiritual exploration and mediumship readings, individuals often seek connection with the afterlife through mediums and a reading session. These readings, facilitated by mediums with the ability to communicate with spirits are held in two different formats: in-person and online. What’s the difference? Online mediumship readings bring the comfort of home to the spiritual quest. Clients can engage in sessions from the familiarity of their living rooms, eliminating the need for travel or logistical arrangements. This convenience extends the accessibility of mediumship services over vast distances, allowing individuals to seek spiritual guidance without being constrained by geographical locations. In-person mediumship readings, on the contrary, offer a different kind of comfort — the comfort of physical presence. Some individuals find satisfaction in face-to-face interactions, appreciating the immediacy and personal presence that an in-person session provides. The shared space creates an environment where both the medium and the client can tap into the spiritual energies more intimately. One of the most apparent differences lies in the physical presence of the participants. In an in-person mediumship reading, the medium and the client share the same physical space. This proximity can create an immediate and a personal connection, as the energy exchange between the two unfolds.  Are in-person mediumship readings better than online mediumship readings? While some individuals believe that a mediumship reading may be better in person, this is a personal choice.  For myself, I am not always convinced of this.  Over my years of experience along with my training over the internet and connecting with many like minded individuals whom practice mediumship, we have found that the distance between the spirit person and the client does not make a difference whether in-person or online.   To expand on my theory,  many of my google reviews come from readings that I conducted over the internet mainly due to COVID.  Then clients continued to book online readings versus being in-person with me.  The convenience of an online session out-weighed the challenges of the distance and travel to get to a medium for a session in-person.   It’s Your Choice The choice between in-person and online sessions is deeply personal. It hinges on individual preferences, beliefs, and comfort levels. While online readings offer convenience and accessibility, in-person sessions provide a physically immersive experience. Regardless of either format, the essence of mediumship lies in the profound healing and communication that the spirit world wants to provide.  Our spirit family draws close,  visiting us in a reading regardless of time and space. They have a willingness to provide evidence of survival after death for both in-person or online readings through a medium.  

Ethics in mediumship is one of the most important parts of seeking a mediumship reading. I strongly believe that the medium must act in a professional manner at all times, and uphold the value of the spirit world, knowing that the spirit world is always with us and watching over us.   For myself, I can assure those who seek a reading from me that I follow all codes of ethics in my practice. But this cannot be said of every single medium unfortunately. In the field of mediumship, there are sometimes individuals who have not had the training or the experience, and therefore they may not uphold a strong ethical practice. It’s important to be aware of this when booking a mediumship reading. How To Be An Ethical Medium Here are some areas to consider if you are becoming a medium or interested in mediumship, or wanting to find a medium to book with. It’s important for all mediums to remain moral and ethical during the reading, as readings often have a profound effect on the sitter in influencing their life and mood.  If you are looking to get into mediumship, sticking to the above lists of ethics is highly crucial for your success in building trust with your clients. If you are looking to book a reading with a medium, consider the lists above and see if the medium adheres to these ethics or not. If they don’t, you’ll have a pretty good idea of whether or not to book with them.

Mediumship readings are an opportunity to communicate with loved ones who have passed on to the other side. It can be such a beautiful and healing experience for both our family in spirit and also the sitter (yourself).  A medium is a person who is able to connect with the spiritual realm and act as a conduit for messages from deceased individuals.  If you are considering a mediumship reading, you may be wondering how it works and whether or not you can ask questions to your loved one in spirit. I’ve provided some more information that help to understand the process of a mediumship reading and answer some common questions that I receive from clients about the experience. What is a Mediumship Reading? A mediumship reading is a session in which a medium connects with the spiritual realm and delivers messages from those who have passed on. Mediums are able to connect with the soul and consciousness of the person who has passed and receive information that they can relay to the sitter in front of the medium. The information may come in the form of descriptions, images, or sensations, and can provide comfort, healing, and guidance to those seeking to connect with their loved ones.  A mediumship reading should always have evidence from the person who is deceased, along with the essence of who they were while here on earth.  How Does a Mediumship Reading Work? During a mediumship reading, the medium will typically begin by tuning into the soul of the person seeking the reading.  This allows the medium to then connect to the loved ones in spirit. I always say that your family comes with you to the reading and they leave with you in your heart.    The medium will begin to receive information from the spiritual realm. The medium will then relay this information to the person seeking the reading. The information should be specific and not general information, and it may relate to past, present, or future events. The medium may also receive messages and evidence from multiple family and friends who are in spirit and be able to relay messages of love from them.   Can You Ask Questions to Your Loved One in Spirit? A common question people have about mediumship readings is whether or not they can ask questions to their loved ones in spirit. The answer is yes, in most cases. Mediums are able to communicate with spirits similar to telepathic communication and can often relay messages and answer questions from those who have passed on. This is something that has been healing for the client when they are able to ask.   However, it’s important to keep in mind that the medium is not in control of the information that comes through. They are simply acting as a conduit for the messages from the spiritual realm. This means that the answers to your questions may not always be what you expect or want to hear, and for this it’s important to approach a mediumship reading with an open mind. Tips for Preparing for a Mediumship Reading If you are considering a mediumship reading, there are several things you can do to prepare for the experience. Here are a few tips to help you get the most out of your reading: Mediumship readings can be a powerful tool for connecting with loved ones who have passed on. Through the skills of a medium, we can receive messages of comfort, healing, and guidance from the spiritual realm. If you are considering a mediumship reading, it’s important to approach the experience with an open mind. If you’re unsure about whether or not a mediumship reading is right for you, take some time to do research. Ultimately, a mediumship reading can be a valuable and transformative experience for those seeking to connect with their loved ones in spirit.   For myself, I have great pleasure in connecting with those in spirit and those who are with me as clients.  

Mediumship is the ability to communicate with spirits who have passed away. It can be an incredibly rewarding experience for both the medium and the client. However, what happens when the medium speaks a different language than what the spirit of the deceased person spoke when they were alive? Is there a language barrier during a mediumship reading? This is a very interesting question. I have had this experience a number of times in my practice. For myself, the most common language the person in spirit spoke when they were alive is French, and the sitter along with myself speak english. But I was still able to convey messages, information and healing from the person in spirit even though they spoke French when alive. How is this possible? Language Barriers in Mediumship Readings It is important to understand that spirits communicate through thoughts, feelings, and impressions rather than through spoken language. Mediums use their abilities to tune into these subtle energies and interpret them into words and phrases that make sense to the client. Therefore the language should not be a problem in my experience. Spirits often communicate through symbols and images rather than through words. For example, a spirit may show the medium an image of a particular animal or object that holds significance to the client. The medium will be able to describe the information and significance to the client, regardless of language. Sensory Approache One approach is for the medium to rely on their sensory abilities to interpret the spirit’s messages. While the medium may not understand the spirit’s language, they can still tune into the energy of the message and convey it to the client in a way that makes sense to the client. This approach requires a degree of skill and intuition on the part of the medium, but it can be effective in delivering a meaningful message to the client. In conclusion, through careful communication and interpretation, mediums can overcome barriers of a language difference in spirit and deliver accurate and meaningful messages to their clients. 

There is something magical about being in the presence of a group mediumship reading. For myself, this is has often happened in a church event or a group demonstration online event. A group mediumship reading is a spiritual event where a medium (or 2-3 mediums) communicates with the souls of deceased individuals that are connected to people in the group audience. There are various types of group mediumship readings. Some are more private, typically taking place in a small group at someone’s home, and other times it is done for a larger group of people at an event, either online or in a church setting. Group mediumship readings allow participants to come together to connect with their loved ones who have passed away, or to simply witness the beauty of mediumship.  Because the groups are usually quite large in a group mediumship reading, the medium(s) do not usually have time to connect with every single audience member’s loved ones. The connections that come through are completley random, and the medium can only connect with the loved ones who choose to come through to them. As such, the medium may not be able to provide messages to all those who are in attendance; only a handful of group members will receive a message. However, what is important is that even though not everyone receives a message, every group members will be able to witness the true love from the spirit world when a soul connects with a member of the audience.  The healing that takes place in a group setting is also quite noticeable for those who receive a message but also for those who witness the communication.   Here’s how a group mediumship reading generally works: Before considering hosting or attending a group mediumship reading, it’s essential to do your research and choose a reputable medium.  And remember that if you do attend a group mediumship reading and your loved one doesn’t come through, it is not because they do not love you. It is because the likelihood decreases when in a group as there are so many loved ones in spirit wanting to come through. If your loved one does come through, or you witness someone else’s come through, the event can be healing and beautiful regardless.

It is very interesting how mediumship has changed during and after COVID. A vast majority of my readings are done online and people are very comfortable with having mediumship readings done in the comfort of their own home. It’s heartwarming to sit on your own chair or couch with your favourite tea, and visit for a short time online with a medium and your spirit family.   However, finding a reputable medium online can be a personal and challenging process.  How can you find a reader that you can trust? One you can feel comfortable with and who will genuinely help you? Here are some steps to help you find a medium online: Finding the right medium may take some time and experimentation, but by following these steps and trusting your intuition, you will be guided to the correct medium. Booking a follow up reading with a medium after you’ve already had a mediumship or blended reading is something that people don’t often think about. Have you ever had a reading with a medium and it went very well? Have you considered going back right away to that medium and booked a subsequent appointment almost immediately? You may think this is the best thing to do, but let me explain why it’s better to wait. Lately, I’ve had a number of inquiries from people wanting to come back to see me shortly after their initial reading. They likely experienced a beautiful reading with evidential mediumship and felt the spirit of their loved ones with them.  It is in these feelings of sitting with spirit and hearing spirit’s messages that people often find joy and healing. It makes sense then that when we feel the healing from those in the spirit world, we often want additional time to uplift our own spirit, feel connected to our family and friends who have passed to spirit, and heal our grief. So what is wrong with booking a follow up reading with a medium again so soon after just seeing them?  Well, in theory there is nothing wrong with seeing a medium again!  However, what is important to know is that similar information could possibly come through the medium on your second visit if it’s close to the first. The Primary Concern When Booking A Follow Up Reading Too Soon If you have a reading too close to the first one, you may hear about the same life, same activities and same information a second time. This creates a possibility that the medium may get hung up on the evidence, trying to determine if they have already given the evidence in the past reading. This interruptive thought process takes the medium away from the spirit world. Therefore the medium has moved from the higher consciousness mind – “soul mind” – to the conscious mind, thus interrupting their connection. This is because during a reading, the medium uses their higher consciousness, or soul mind, for the evidential mediumship to flow.  However, if a medium has previously felt or known the information from beforehand, the medium will often move from the higher consciousness mind, or soul mind, back to the conscious mind. The conscious mind is never correct though; it’s just guessing and using logic to try to provide a reading. If you stay with the higher consciousness soul mind, this is where the accuracy and the details come from. If I happen to have a client booking a follow up reading too soon, I may be utilizing the conscious mind and the past information too much, or I may stay completely with the spirit world and have a wonderful reading! It really depends, but I will say that the chances of me staying with the spirit world decrease if I’ve already given the same client a reading very recently. What other concerns are there? The other concern with booking a follow up reading too soon is that the client may develop a codependent relationship with the medium. This is difficult on the medium due to the high expectation and also the probability of the conscious mind doing the reading, instead of the soul mind. Lastly, another concern with receiving back-to-back readings is that we often receive profound or life-altering information in readings, so by having another reading right away, a client hasn’t given themselves sufficient time to process the information, work with it, heal with it, and whatever else they made need to do with the information. Although receiving back-to-back readings seems intuitive and logical, it may actually do a disservice to the client who is receiving them.  Information from a reading can be so valuable and must be given ample time to be processed by the client. In summary, all of this is to say that when booking a follow up reading, if you’ve already had a mediumship or blended reading, I highly recommend clients wait around 6 months before seeing the same medium again, so as to ensure new information is coming through and they’ve had time to process the old information, and that the medium is in a fresh place for communicating.

Learning how to answer during a mediumship reading is a great topic to address for those who are new to receiving a reading. Figuring out the process for a reading can be a bit confusing if we use a different psychic or medium each time we go; each reader has a different way of starting the session, delivering the information, or of having the sitter answer in various ways.     This is because each medium has different training and mentoring. Therefore, not one medium will be the exact same as others. So when it comes to providing an answer during a mediumship reading whenever the reader asks you about the information they’re providing, I will try to explain more about how this works, keeping in mind that this is the way that I personally have been trained. Why Responding With Clarity Matters It’s important for you, the sitter, to be as clear as possible when giving an answer to the reader. When a mediumship reader provides information to a sitter, the sitter can reply with a strong “Yes”, “No”, or “I don’t know.” You may think these are sparse responses, but they are all very sufficient answers during a mediumship reading. This is because not only does the spirit world hear the clear yes’s and no’s, the soul of the medium who is doing the reading will build up power and communication when hearing “Yes”, “No”, or “I don’t know.” Clarity builds the communication, so the sitter, who is receiving the reading, can do their part by being clear and concise, even if the answer from the sitter is a clear “No.” Let me explain a little bit further for you; when a medium is working with you, the information does not originate from their mental thinking mind. The information comes from their soul mind. If a medium is utilizing their mental mind, then the reader will often be incorrect in the information they give. However, when we use our soul mind, we will be correct because the soul is never wrong. As such, reading the spirit world involves the utilization of our soul mind, which for many is our sensitivity and the utilization of our clairs. There is a very subtle difference between our soul mind and the mental mind, and when developing intuitive skills, we may often confuse the soul mind and the mental mind. Therefore the medium must know and be able to feel whether the information is coming from the soul mind or the mental mind. And a good way for them to gauge whether or not they are using their soul mind lies in how clear the verbal responses are from the sitter. How To Answer During a Mediumship Reading For each reading, there is a trilogy occurring: the sitter, the reader and the spirit world. When we have conversations with those who have passed, the best and most accurate readings come when the sitter provides a clear “Yes”, “No” or “I don’t know” throughout the reading. There are times when I am providing a reading and the sitter wants to provide statements like “Possibly, ummm, well not sure, maybe!” Each of these statements create more problems for the medium as their mental mind will activate right away instead of the soul mind staying with the information.    If you recall, the mental mind is often wrong as it is guessing, rather than the soul mind which is always correct. Therefore it’s best to stay away from words like “possible” and provide a clear answer of “Yes”, “No” or “I don’t know.” If you stick to these three answers, your reading will be much clearer. The spirit world hears you, the medium hears you and you hear yourself, and “maybe, possibly” really does not work well.      Lastly, I personally much prefer that a sitter gives me a clear “No” if the information is not correct rather than trying to make the answer work, because if I receive a clear “No” I will realize that my mind has slipped to my mental mind during the communication rather than staying with my soul mind. For sitters that provide to me a clear “Yes”, “No” or “I don’t know”, they often have a much better reading because it is filled with much more clarity for them.

You may be surprised to learn that there are quite a few benefits of conducting a psychic or mediumship reading over zoom. Because of the pandemic, many Individuals are turning to social media and Zoom to provide more interaction online and conduct business. This is the same for mediums that provide both intuitive, psychic and mediumship healing, such as myself. Zoom has been an integral aspect of many people’s lives lately, and many have adapted to the changing environment of going online.  I primarily conduct readings online at this time. However, as the pandemic eases, in addition to conducting readings online, there will be more opportunities to conduct readings in person. I am finding though that at this time, many of my colleagues throughout Canada, USA, and the UK are using Zoom and similar platforms. Is booking a reading over Zoom safe? While we can never assume anything to be completely safe, we can mitigate as much as possible for our privacy.  It’s understandable that when considering the benefits of conducting a psychic or mediumship reading over zoom, we take into account safety and privacy. I am concerned about privacy just as much as you may be! I take additional steps to ensure the safety and privacy of each reading, and to help with the safety of not being ‘zoombombed.’ For instance, each of my Zoom invitations have a unique long password generated for each client’s reading. This is important because long and unique passwords are considered much more secure. I also activate a waiting room for every session so that no direct access to a meeting can be had. Lastly, Zoom has a feature called Lock Room which I enable once the reading begins. What are the benefits of conducting a psychic or mediumship reading over zoom? Now with the safety and privacy aside,  I would like to talk about the benefits to you as a person receiving a reading over zoom. I believe there are several benefits of conducting a psychic or mediumship reading over zoom, such as: There is less chit-chat getting settled In person, there can often be more time spent settling in. Would you like some tea? Here are the tissues!  Do you need anything else? How have you been? When we meet someone for the first time in person, we often make small talk before getting to the heart of the matter. With a reading over zoom, there is no time for that! Often the reading is only 30 or 45 mins long, so we can get started almost right away when meeting online. More opportunity to be on time for your sessionWhen booking a reading over Zoom, there is no fighting with traffic or where to park or dealing with travel time. Conducting a psychic or mediumship reading over zoom makes it very easy for both me and the sitter to be on time, comfortable, and ready to go once the reading starts. Not feeling rushed if running lateIf you are running late for the Zoom reading for whatever reason, it’s usually only a few minutes late because it is very easy to jump online when you are ready. For some of us, we push the limits of time and race in our vehicle to an in-person session, which may not be helpful to the reading as you’ll arrive flustered and distracted. I really don’t mind if a client is a few minutes late, but if they were 15 or 20mins late stuck in traffic, that would be a problem for both of us! No need for a car   Speaking of getting to a reading on time, if you don’t have a car, getting to an in-person session can be challenging and taking transit can take up a lot of your time. With conducting a psychic or mediumship reading over zoom, you don’t need a car or transit. Ease of being in one’s home    There is simply something so nice about having a reading in your own space, especially if it’s the first time you’ve ever had a reading. Once the session is complete, you will have your own space to digest and to feel the presence of the spirit! The accuracy of information remains just the same as in-person  With psychic and mediumship readings, the accuracy of information the sitter receives is the same, whether the reading is done online or in-person. Spirit does not need to have the medium and the sitter in the same physical place in order to be with the sitter.   The lovely aspect of Spirit is that you bring your family with you wherever you go, whether over Zoom or in-person. And when you leave the reading, your loved ones in spirit leave with you as well. They are always in your heart and with you. This is the same for psychic readings too; over Zoom, the information from your soul to my soul will flow very similarly to an in-person session. A session can be recorded for your future viewingEvidence and memories mentioned by a medium during a reading can bring additional comfort to you later because you can easily view a recording of the Zoom reading at any time. How wonderful is that! No need to try to take any notes or make your own recording.   Why You Should Consider Book A Reading Over Zoom Zoom has always worked well for my clients and friends. I have been able to read around the world for many people, and have enjoyed the opportunity to read for a variety of cultures and backgrounds. Conducting a psychic or mediumship reading over zoom has allowed for such beautiful meetings between soul and spirit to occur. For myself, touching others’ spirits both living and passed on is an amazing gift. Helping others is very important to me and if Zoom bridges us together so that we are able to share a bit of time for healing, then I believe Zoom has been a gift. Have you ever had a mediumship reading where the reading was lacking in details, or your loved one did not come through? This is a terrible feeling and I completely understand how disheartening it can be. However, there are a few reasons for why spirit may not come through. Let’s say you’ve booked a mediumship reading, you’re anticipating it for days or weeks. You’re excited, you can’t wait to hear from a certain loved one who has passed on. And then the day comes and the reading happens and – your loved one is not there. Instead, Uncle Bob from generations past may be the one to come through, or some other family member you don’t even know that well. You may feel devastated and think, how come they don’t love me, the person you really wanted to hear from? And in the end, you may even forget most of the reading because the spirit who came through wasn’t the one you wanted to hear from. Now, why is that? Why is it that sometimes when we go to see a medium, spirit doesn’t come through? There are actually a few very good reasons for why spirit may not come through in a mediumship reading. Spirit doesn’t come through because of a weak connection Firstly, I’d like to say – it’s not you! If your family does not show up, it is not because your family doesn’t love you or doesn’t want to visit and leave messages. It’s often in the blending of the medium and spirit world where we find that spirit may not come through.  Blending with the spirit world is not always a sure thing each and every day, and this can greatly impact who comes through and who doesn’t. So, a very likely cause is that it may be the medium who is not blending with the spirit world very well. This happens occasionally, and it potentially happens to both beginners and experienced mediums. We are all human and blending with spirit may be affected more on one day versus another. There are many professionals and seasoned mediums who sometimes read for the person sitting across from them and still have difficulty. Please do not be discouraged; your family in spirit does indeed love you. They just may not be able to use that particular medium to communicate. It’s very similar to how in life, we do not always get along with or become strong friends with every single person we meet. There are times at the office, at work, or parties that we find ourselves staying away from some people and more attracted to others. This is exactly how I feel about blending with the spirit world – some spirits will be drawn to me, others will not. This, I would say, is the case for all mediums. The spirit world needs to trust a medium and get along with the personality of the medium in order to communicate and provide information about their life. The same way we need to get along well with someone before we become friends.   Sharing one’s life is a personal thing, so the spirit and the medium do have a relationship during the reading. Would you engage with someone on Earth that you didn’t particularly care for? Likely not! So consider that the spirit world does the same when blending with a medium, and the medium must be able to hold the connection of the spirit that is in the spirit world. This is often the reason for why spirit may not come through; purely, it is the connection between the medium and spirit. The medium may be new If a medium is just beginning the amazing journey of reading for others, and being of service to the spirit world, they may not have the full expectation that your family or loved one will blend with them.  A newer medium may not be able to hold or sustain the power needed to read for someone and bring evidence through. A newer medium may also be fishing for information and using the mind rather than the soul – a common and misunderstood mistake new mediums can make!    These are all areas of growth for many mediums and reasons why your connection to your family may not be strong. It is my hope that you don’t shy away from giving a newer medium the experience of reading for you in order for them to grow, but to consider your expectations if this is the case. Can a sitter cause a spirit to not come through? As a sitter, when going into a reading, always consider that if there are strong feelings going on with yourself, that has potential to affect outcomes. Your willingness to engage assists the medium. Allow yourself not to be fearful but allow the experience to occur.   Maybe you have lost a person recently and are desperate for them to come through. Sometimes the intense need to reach someone can cause a reading to not go as well as you would want. Not to worry though – your family is still there, and they love you immensely. If you’re a newer medium, one note of caution is not to assume that you are blocked or that you are not a good enough reader. This kind of beliefs and thinking will not help as the mind is a powerful thing and thinking this way will only interfere even more with future readings and connection.  This spirit world is aware and will help you along your journey. Go into a reading with an open mind and heart. At the end of the day, it is important to know that a medium does not select and choose who comes through and who doesn’t. Mediumship readings are an amazing experience. It is no wonder that we may ask ourselves why do spirits communicate certain information, and leave out other additional information? How do spirits decide what is revealed in a reading and what isn’t? Spirit Communication and My Thoughts On Why It Exists Spirit communication in a mediumship reading is about helping the spirit world first.  The spirit world has a lot to provide in communication, and it’s often very personal to the sitter.  Have you considered that our family and friends want to reach out and communicate?  It is touching to know that our loved ones are there and they work very hard to blend with a medium.  It’s not always about the sitter here on earth, but more so, it’s about allowing our family and friends in spirit to communicate.  Spirits love to connect and share information because of the vast knowledge about our lives on earth and what is occurring in our world. Our spirit families are highly evolved in their knowledge and abilities to communicate with a medium.  It is my belief that through spirit communication, a medium heals two worlds, our world and their world. This is a very important concept; a medium can blend and assist with both the spirit world and our own world when it comes to healing.  Those in spirit need to communicate and provide information about their life, and loved ones on earth want to listen. How come spirits communicate certain information? Consider your family, your lovely ones in spirit; they are intelligent and wise. They can communicate anything. However, why is it that during a mediumship reading, some mediums can obtain significant detail while others may not? You may think that this is because the spirit is deciding what information to share and what not to share, but really the spirit communication has a lot do with the medium and their training.  When spirits communicate certain information, it is because they wish to share their memories or feelings with you. This information flows when the medium is trained in all aspects of mediumship and has the awareness of the information that comes through. When a medium is trained extensively on utilizing their sensitivity and abilities in detail and understands that the relationship with the spirit world is a two-way communication, then that medium has more abilities to provide specific details and lovely memories. Spirit communicates certain information about themselves, possibly work, home life, activities, but they are more than capable of providing very detailed information to the sitter, and share amazing feelings no one would know about. Have you witnessed a medium who can provide exact street addresses, phone numbers, license plates, or may provide the tiniest exact details that most overlook? This accurate and very detailed information comes from the training of the medium and their discussion with the spirit world.    Discussions In Spirit Communication There is a two-way discussion that occurs during a mediumship reading.  Often, people who begin their training will sit and wait for information, not receiving much, and overthinking the information that has been provided to them. If a medium is having difficulties communicating, then how can a spirit provide much information? It’s likely that a new medium may not fully understand yet the beautiful exchange that happens in the two-way discussion between them and spirit. When it comes to communication with the spirit world, I personally experience passing of thoughts and a feeling that is exchanged. There is also communication with smell, knowing, touch, and taste, but often, my readings begin with personal information about the spirit, and additional information soon flows after that. When spirits communicate certain information, it’s the medium’s responsibility to assist with the information detailed to them. For instance, if the medium sees a kitchen, ideally the medium sends a thought to spirit asking the spirit to show additional details of the full kitchen – what was in the cupboards or on the kitchen ledge? Was the fridge empty or full? Was there a can for keeping cash? How about the cooking? Are there smells of baked goods or was it casseroles and chicken dishes? Each of these questions can be more detailed with the spirit communication, but more importantly each one of these examples and their details will mean much more to the sitter than we often realize. For example, perhaps there was an old jar used for keeping cash, and communicating that to a sitter could invoke tears of joy at the memory. If we overlook information and do not communicate with the spirit world, we may overlook these small but mighty pieces of information that are ultimately evidence to the sitter that their loved one truly is with them. Consider that spirit communication is similar to how we communicate on earth. When a person meets someone for the first time, do they stand by and not say a word and wait for the other to speak? When we meet another person that we have never met, we often engage in back-and-forth discussion, share information about our selves, family, our work, and life experiences. In most cases we provide good details when questioned. This is exactly what the spirit world does when a medium sends interesting questions. This exchange and what I call being ‘nosey’ is what allows great information to reach the sitter.  However, there are times we do not engage, therefore we do not receive the information for our sitter.  This is the equivalent of meeting someone new for the first time and waiting for them to ask questions before you talk! Blending and delivering messages is not easy… It is up to us as the medium to obtain certain pieces of information that a spirit communicates.  However,  from my experience, it is not always easy to blend and deliver messages. Sometimes people ask me how exactly do I prepare for a mediumship reading? Where must a medium be in their mindset in order to give one? The most important factor that helps to prepare for a mediumship reading is acquiring a calm mindset. A calm mind is essential for building awareness and blending with the spirit world. The blending and awareness are the most necessary aspects for becoming aware of the spirit world. For me, I often feel that I alter my state of awareness just before blending. This allows me to remove all of the thoughts, problems, and challenges that I have going on throughout the day. I consider this to be the most important step to prepare for a mediumship reading.  In addition, the altered state allows me to receive information without my conscious mind interfering. Mind interference is one area that most mediums must learn how to manage and work with. The conscious mind is very strong and is consistently analyzing, telling us what to do, what we did wrong – sometimes it is our biggest critic. It is essential to prepare for a mediumship reading by not letting the conscious mind interfere. And so, prior to any reading, it is imperative for the client that I clear my mind and just be in a relaxed state.  With the quieting of the mind, I would then be in a state where I’m able to sense the lovely Spirit World and be with the love they share. The information that is received using my senses is often subtle, therefore I must be in the receiving state of mind. Other than this, I do not feel it is necessary to do more than be present for the client and the Spirit World.   Do you have a ritual in order to prepare for a mediumship reading? I am not a ritualistic person when it comes to preparing for a mediumship reading. I do not believe that a person needs crystals, rocks, feathers, tea, songs, beads or any other kind of item in order to have a strong connection to those in Spirit World. I do not need certain music. I do not have to use a certain place in the house or an office. I only need to be with the person whom the Spirit World wants to connect with, and share inspiration, evidence, and love.  When I am with a client, the evidence will flow, the communication will flow and the healing will flow, so I must admit I really do not prepare for a reading – I am simply available! This is a very interesting question when it comes to doing mediumship readings for others. What holds us back from doing something that we absolutely love, that brings us fulfilment and also helps others? Simply put, it’s fear of the unknown! It is fear that often drives many of us away from doing something that brings joy. This could easily be applied to anything – fear in our work, in our creativity or even in our education. It is very difficult to experience such fear, and many of us have indeed experienced it with the things we love!    Imagine being a singer and standing up in a large auditorium, singing for the first time in front of others. It must be quite scary! I look at the young individuals on the series The Voice and I commend them for their ability to stand up and sing in front of so many, conquering their fears. We as an audience don’t often see the fear, the hesitation, or the challenges that they’re up against when the contestants stand up in front of a live Network audience and television viewers. Many need to work through their fear to have success in their lives and overcome fear of performance. They’ve had to work through their anxiety to get to where they are. I appreciate their willingness to break through to become the true spirit that they are. The spirit is amazing when we allow ourselves to grow and exist in our natural way.   Why We Might Fear Doing Mediumship Readings For Others When doing mediumship readings for others, it is much the same thing; as we begin to develop and enhance the skills necessary for being a professional medium, there is a fear that is often attached to coming out as a medium and being visible to others. We have fears of becoming known, or in the practice of mediumship, fears of not being “good enough.”    We have fears due to lack of mediumship and psychic training, and fear of providing a reading for somebody that is not resonating with the sitter. With doing mediumship readings for others, there are fears about not being able to connect with spirit because we don’t want to be wrong.  As mediums, we don’t want to look like we are inadequate, tired, or unknowledgeable about the spirit world. I can understand this; it was in my early days of development that I was fearful of pulling up a chair with somebody to provide an experimental reading. We practiced by doing psychic and mediumship readings for each other.  When we sit across and have little to provide, a reader can feel inadequate, unable to connect, and definitely fearful of doing additional sittings going forward. I’ve had this experience in my early days when I began doing mediumship readings for others. I often looked at the sitter, gazed into their eyes, assessed where they were at and tried to provide a reading. One of the things that often happens is that we’re very hard on ourselves. We’re hard on what we said, what we felt or the information that we’ve provided to the sitter.   If you consider the contestants on The Voice, do you think that each person had an easy time when they were developing? It’s not easy for anybody to do their true calling, overcome fear of performance, or to find that love of spirit and want to continue with the hard work it takes to become a professional. Each person on The Voice has a dream of becoming a professional singer. Much like people who are developing as mediums, it takes work, dedication and trust.   How To Overcome Lack Of Confidence As A Medium I feel that the most significant impact for mediumship development is about trust. In fact, development is about trust completely! It’s about trusting that the spirit will be there to provide you the information, blend with you, and trust for a strong connection to the spirit world for the sitter. It’s trust in yourself that you can do the work and do it honestly and ethically. Trust and dedication leads to success for a professional medium, and more cionfidence when doing mediumship readings for others. I talked about fear in the beginning – it is a real thing in a mediumship. Many mediums, if not most, experience it. It is difficult to overcome and many people give up before the spirit draws a person back into the work. Fear is very difficult to overcome in life in general; it occurs in many different fields, but with practice, dedication and trust, and allowing your soul to guide you, you can do very well in mediumship if this is a field of work that you are called to do. All I can say is practice. Work with trusted people and get to know the spirit world and yourself well enough so that you’re confident each time you sit down with a person, you will have a spirit with you. It is the most gratifying reward that I can encourage people to pursue if there’s an interest in mediumship development.
