Stepping Into Mediumship: Moving Beyond Uncertainty

I still remember the summer of 2011, when I first stepped through the doors of a Spiritualist church to explore mediumship. I was nervous. I was entering a completely new learning environment and exploring something I really did not know very much about—the Spirit World, the soul, and what it meant to communicate with those who had passed. I was quite nervous to say the least.

Looking back now, I realize how normal those feelings were.

Whenever we step into something unfamiliar, there can naturally be uncertainty or hesitation. We may wonder what to expect, whether we will fit in, or even whether we should be there at all. Mediumship can bring additional apprehension simply because many people have never had the opportunity to understand what it truly is.

Finding somewhere that feel like home

But something happened for me when I walked through those doors.

I felt at home.

As I began learning about the Spirit World and the soul, something within me started to settle. My uncertainty gradually became curiosity. I began to feel comforted by what I was learning and discovered a different understanding of life, death, grief, and the continuation of the soul.

It also helped me with my own grief and anxiety.

My brother had passed many years earlier, when I was 21 years old, and one of the greatest gifts mediumship gave me was the comfort of knowing that he was okay. Through some of my first experiences and readings, I began to understand that his life had not simply ended. I found comfort in knowing that he had transitioned to the Spirit World and that the love and connection between us continued. I hold this dear to my heart to this day!

Those early experiences sincerely helped me.

Why I am passionate about supporting others

This is one of the reasons I feel so passionate about creating supportive learning environments for others. I know what it feels like to walk into a class feeling nervous or uncertain. I know what it feels like to sit for a reading and wonder what might happen. And I know how meaningful it can be when that uncertainty begins to give way to understanding, healing, and hope.

If you are hesitant about seeing a medium, attending a Spiritualist church, going to a demonstration, or taking your first mediumship development class, know that you are certainly not alone. Many people experience the same uncertainty when they begin.

You do not have to know everything, and you certainly do not have to prove anything. You can simply come with an open mind, learn, ask questions, and allow your own understanding to develop naturally.

The classes I teach are designed to be supportive, informative, and uplifting. There is plenty of information and learning, but there is also room to simply be yourself and discover what mediumship means to you. Personally, I love to teach. I find it uplifting to share and be of support and service to those who are on a healing journey.

Grief and loss affect each of us differently, and we all need to find the things that help us move through those experiences. For me, learning about mediumship, the soul, and the Spirit World became part of that healing journey.  Fifteen years after walking into the Spiritualist church I must say that we still never fully heal from our losses, but we truly become a more whole, compassionate, and understanding individual.

Sometimes the things we initially feel uncertain about can open a door to greater understanding, connection, and healing.

If mediumship is something you have been curious about, perhaps give yourself permission to explore that curiosity. Take your time, ask questions, find a supportive environment, church or spiritual group online, or seek out a demonstration of mediumship to attend both in person or online. There are many ways that you can step into mediumship for your own learning or simply for your curiosity and learning.

And if there is a way that I can help you along the way, please reach out.
