How do you know your loved one is with you in spirit?

This is a question that I am being asked more and more lately.  People often wonder, how do they know that their loved one is with them in spirit?

For many people, knowing that a loved one is with you in spirit is often very personal. I feel certain that our spirit family wants to reach out and touch our hearts by showing us various ways of their love.  For many people who have lost loved ones, they find comfort in various signs or experiences that they interpret as a connection with a departed loved one.

Common Signs Your Loved One Is With You In Spirit

Here are some common signs that individuals associate with the presence of a loved one in spirit:

spirit in family
  • Dreams: Many people, including myself,  report having vivid dreams where they communicate with their deceased loved ones. These dreams may feel particularly real and comforting.  I have had these personally so please check out my other blog on dreams here.
  • Sensory experiences: Many individuals have had experiences where they can feel the presence of a loved one through sensory experiences, such as a sudden change in temperature, a familiar scent, or a feeling of being touched, or a sense of overwhelming love.
  • Signs in nature: Some people find symbolic meaning in natural occurrences, such as seeing a certain bird, butterfly, or other animals, which they associate with the presence of their loved one. Another one can be feathers or hearts showing up on the ground, especially when we are thinking of our loved one.
  • Electrical phenomena: Believers in spiritual connections often associate unusual electrical occurrences, such as flickering lights, with the presence of a loved one.
  • Intuitive feelings: Trusting your intuition or having a sense that your loved one is nearby is another common way people feel connected to those who have passed to spirit.  I also find when we just know that they are close to us, or when our family member pops into our heads, that they are close by.  I love how my brother just pops into my head when I am seeking help.

From my perspective, some or all of these examples are very personal to each person.  Some people may experiences many of these while others only have one recurring experience. It is important to note that what brings comfort to one person may not have the same experience for others when feeling your loved one in your presence.

Sometimes I am often told by clients,  “I never feel or sense anything.” Over time you as you open up, you may be surprised to start to sense and feel your loved one with you if you are not feeling them today. Sometimes we look too hard for signs and symbols,  and sometimes we need to trust that our family is with us and around us, then we start to notice signs and symbols.

I am supportive of your connections with family and friends in spirit.  We all are unique individuals and our family will connect with us in their unique ways.  Please keep an open mind and believe that they are close.
