Is it safe to see a medium when grieving?

Firstly, if you’re wondering whether or not it’s safe to see a medium when grieving, I suspect that you’ve lost somebody recently and for that I am very sorry. Our loved ones mean the world to us, and without them, our lives can change significantly.

When we are grieving, I’ve often said that the depth of our grief is equal to the depth of our love. Deep grief comes from deep love, and without the deep love, we would not have the grief that we experience.

For myself, I know personally what it’s like to grieve deeply, and I can attest to how much my life changed after the unexpected loss of my brother. We try to carry on. We attempt to have a normal daily life in whatever way ‘normalcy’ would have looked like, but we miss family dearly.

What is grief?

Grief strikes deeply at the heart and changes us all. To grieve is to go through some of the most difficult times of our lives. It is not easy to maneuver through the emotional challenges of grief, however, each day we learn just a little bit more, and we work at having just a bit more normalcy in our lives.

The deep emotions of losing someone special is felt for many years to come. Because of this, we often live a long time with grief. We know deep in our heart that we grieve daily for those who have passed before us.

When in our grief, often we look for answers to many types of questions. Why did that person have to pass? How do I live without them? Are they okay in the spirit world? Ultimately, we are looking for a little bit of peace in our heart. Often, individuals will come to a medium to learn about the spirit world, to have an experience of connecting with a loved one that has passed, and to hopefully get some peace in their heart, knowing that their loved one is okay and is able to send messages and evidence through a medium.

Why it’s safe to see a medium when grieving

I believe it is safe to see a medium when grieving as the medium will bring evidential information from the spirit world, which can be very healing.

Evidential mediumship is about providing information that only yourself and your loved one in spirit would know. The evidence could be shared memories, physical items, pictures, descriptions of homes, emotions, and/or any evidence of your life after they have passed. There would be no way that the medium would have any access to this information outside of the reading, hence why it is referred to as evidence of your loved one in spirit coming through.

When we receive evidence of mediumship, there is a warming of the heart, an awakening of the possibility that our loved ones are carrying on in the spirit world. I do believe that the soul does carry forward after physical death, and that is what a medium communicates with during a reading.

While I believe it is safe to see a medium when grieving, I would advise leaving a bit of time after the person’s passing and before seeing a medium, to allow the grieving process to occur. For instance, I’ve had individuals come to see me three or four months after a loved one has passed, and the mediumship reading was heartwarming, healing, and very supportive.

My only caution

The only concern that I caution everybody with is to not see a medium too often. We must allow ourselves to grieve internally, and not rely on a medium to bring forth messages and evidence. There are times when individuals become too reliant on mediums for their healing process, and for this reason, we must be careful not to repeatedly seek out a medium. My standard policy is six months between readings. For other readers, it may be more or less.

I sincerely believe that it is safe and supportive to see an evidential medium when grieving. My main piece of advice is to research a medium thoroughly before booking with them. Evidential Mediumship is so important to our healing by helping the soul and bridging the connection from loved ones in spirit. It’s important that you find the right medium for both you and spirit.
