This is an interesting question! It’s only natural to wonder if people who have psychic abilities read people in public all the time. However, I must say that this is generally not the case.
I say generally because the sensational spectacle of TV mediums showcases many examples of mediums reading people in public, like at the check out counter, the bakery, a place of business etc. Pop culture and social media makes it look simple and easy to read people in public, however, most mediums and psychics do not subscribe to this method, and here is why!
Why psychic mediums don’t typically read people in public
It is my opinion that when a psychic reads people in public by approaching unknowing individuals or people they’ve only just met, this is a violation of that person’s private space. A medium or psychic should not be entering into psychic discussions and channeling information without the consent of the individual.
Also, approaching individuals with a psychic reading while in public is simply not necessary. The only reason why psychic mediums do this is for their own gratification. All ethical professional individuals should try to maintain healthy boundaries, and a psychic medium is no exception.
Being a psychic medium requires boundaries
When I am not in a reading with a client, I am closed off with my abilities and intuition. I simply am just me! If we didn’t close off our intuition and just be ourselves, we would be in a heightened state of awareness of sensing and feeling all the time, which would become very draining and affect our daily lives energetically. If a psychic medium is a professional and practicing regularly with their gifts, it is important to take breaks, have vacations and allow for downtime in their schedules.
For myself, I only read for people when a client has hired me to do so. Other than this, I do not read people outside of working hours. This is the healthiest way to have a connection with yourself and the client or person in the spirit world.

If you are practicing to become a professional psychic medium, please take my advice and do not approach people in public or randomly give readings to friends at a party. We never know if we are affecting people negatively by spontaneously approaching them. You just never know – they may not want your reading, and it may affect them negatively. If someone wants a reading, they’ll come to you and book one. So it’s best to leave readings for when a client professionally hires you for one.
