What is the difference between spirits and ghosts? Do spirits haunt places?
These are wonderful questions! This has come up time and time again as people question the difference between a ghost and a spirit. People are often confused or unsure about ghosts and spirits, which leads often to a fear of the unknown. I hope to alleviate any fears in this blog post and give you my honest opinion as an experience medium myself. I have learned and experienced throughout my teachings and my practice that a spirit is the soul of someone who has lived a life, passed before us, and is close to the earth by the love of family that are left behind. The love we have for our family here on earth is what keeps our spirit family close in the spirit world, and vice versa. For example, if a son passes to the spirit world and he has a deep love of his family, his spirit will stay close to the family left behind here on earth, whom he loves very much. He will be there to encourage and support his family, and send love to them through signs, symbols and an awareness that he is close. He would also be able to communicate through a medium to connect with family, due to the mutual love he shares with his family. The communication and ability to communicate through a medium is greater because of this love from both sides. On the other hand, ghosts are memories, atmospheres and energies left behind. People often talk about going into old buildings, hotel rooms, cold boardrooms, and abandoned places, and because of their own sensitivities and awareness, they may feel the energy that is left in a room or building. This often manifests as feelings of goosebumps or hair standing on end, feelings of fear or unease, feeling unsure, or simply other emotions like sadness. Some individuals will feel the energy of a woman or man, a child, an elder, or even a dog, and they may understand that something happened in this room or building. That is the energy that is left behind, often termed as a ghost. So a ghost is an energy that is left over after someone has passed, but it is not the soul of the person. Sometimes when someone dies tragically or in a difficult situation, the energy of a place or person can be left over and those who are more sensitive than others will feel the energy. A weird strange feeling in a home or building, or even an old argument in a room that happened years ago between the deceased when they were alive with another person, can be enough to make one feel that there is a ghost close by. This remnant energy is often only felt by people who are very sensitive naturally. To conclude: A ghost is simply the energy left over from an event or person.A spirit is the soul of the person who has passed to the spirit world. Lastly, I do want to clarify that spirits do not haunt places. This is not what our family and friends in spirit want for us. Consider this—would your grandmother, grandfather, mother, father, sister, brother, aunt, uncle, or close friend want to bring fear into your life by haunting you? Of course not! They would rather support and help guide you through your life, and speak through a medium to say “I love you”. Spirits of people who have passed are very loving. I have seen this time and again in many of my readings that I do for people. If you have anymore questions about this please contact me or book a reading here.
